Energy Services and Sustainability

Aparna Dial, Director

Energy Services and Sustainability (ESS) provides support for the university’s strategic energy initiative and to achieve sustainability in all areas of university operations, including responsible resource use and energy management. This area also provides utility metering, billing and reporting systems; energy data collection and analysis; energy audits; utility purchasing services; and program development for waste minimization and recycling.

 

PERFORMANCE METRICS
Anne Pensyl, Director

The Performance Metrics Team focuses on developing and reporting performance metric data for all areas within Facilities Operations and Development. Working collaboratively with each business area, they develop detailed and integrated metrics to use as management tools that provide appropriate feedback toward success of the organization. The group collects, analyzes, and maintains data, performs benchmarking activities and focuses on best practices and process improvements.

The University Engineer places a strong emphasis on building energy management and advancing the university’s goal of becoming a leader in sustainability. He assists and supports the university’s Framework planning and implementation efforts to ensure that the supporting infrastructure’s design, performance, reliability, system capacities, and life cycle deferred maintenance and renewal programs are in alignment with providing the essential utility services required for present day and long-term growth opportunities.

 

UNIVERSITY LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT

Steve Volkmann

The University Landscape Architect serves as steward of the exterior campus environment and supports the university’s Framework planning and implementation principles by enhancing the quality of the teaching and learning environment. Working closely with units across campus, the ULA serves as a technical resource involved with review and policy and guideline development for campus site improvements, including new construction & renovation projects, lighting, wayfinding signage, transportation, Percent for Art Program, and plant material use.
