Olentangy River Restoration
2012
---
9-14 The city of Columbus has advised that dam removal is nearly complete. There is some remaining work to remove parts of the foundation. The water level actually rose slightly this week because of a release by the Army Corps of Engineers at the Delaware Dam. The water is expected to reach its final lowered point next week. Once this occurs, the remaining work this fall will be bringing in significant amounts of fill to even out elevations in the river bed and construct the new river channel. Most of this work will occur in the river area, south of King Avenue. Traffic impacts should be minimal, although you may notice an increase in truck traffic near King & Fifth Avenue and King & Olentangy Avenue near the construction access points. Please note, there are several other construction projects in that area that may impact sidewalks and intersections, but they are unrelated to the Olentangy River Restoration.
