Facilities Operations and Development is funded to inspect, maintain and recharge existing fire extinguishers located in FOD-serviced buildings, in compliance with NFPA regulations.
Additional fire extinguishers should be processed through Facilities Operations and Development to maintain a standard of quality and ensure that new fire extinguisher locations are added to the building inventory list and monthly preventive maintenance work requests, both of which are required for proper inspection and servicing.
Additional fire extinguishers requested by departments for computer rooms, research labs, and research work spaces can be installed on a billable basis. The charge for additional fire extinguishers would include purchase and installation. After installation, costs to inspect, maintain and service new extinguishers would be the responsibility of Facilities Operations and Development.
