Keys, Cards & Locks
Requesting a Key
Your supervisor will assist you in requesting keys, filling out the proper forms and obtaining authorizing signatures. Keys are usually ready in three days. Your supervisor will be notified when it’s ready.
Card Access
You must first obtain a BuckID. FOD HR provides the proper paperwork and notifies Lock & Key Services of new hires, transfers and terminations. Building access is granted, revoked or updated once notifications are received.
Lost Keys or ID(s)
If you lose your keys, BuckID or FOD ID Badge, notify your supervisor immediately. See Human Resources policies for reordering information. Most of the keys and access levels granted to FOD employees could create a security risk if in the wrong hands.
Emergency Key Override
FOD installs an emergency brass key override core in all electronically controlled doors. When a key is used in a monitored door, an intrusion alarm goes to Public Safety and Ohio State Police are dispatched. For this reason, use only the brass key in emergency situations.
