Managing change in organizations

Managers are increasingly faced with challenging environments and must effectively diagnose the need for changes and design strategies that minimize resistance. Public Information Law

Your office is filled with papers, files, and documents. Which of these are citizens entitled to see? Ohio’s public record law sets the rules for what’s confidential and what’s not. Every government employee should know the difference. This seminar thoroughly explains Ohio’s Public Records Act. It also covers how to provide information to reporters without violating the law. This includes tips on how to communicate effectively your agency’s activities and priorities in a way that will protect you from law suits. better writing and editing skills for administrative support staff

Are you charged with editing the written work of others? Are you often asked to prepare communications for others? Are you looking for ways to improve the readability of the written word? This seminar for administrative support personnel will focus on practical communication tips applicable in every office setting. Topics will include steps to follow in writing those difficult letters, how to use punctuation marks to improve reader understanding, and ways to overcome writer’s block. The session also will look at troublesome words that emerge in everyday writing and suggestions on how to upgrade proofreading skills. Electric Motor Controls II

Addresses the concepts of speed ranges, torque, variable speed control, solid state control, variable frequency drive units, and the interface with advanced control components such as PLCs. troubleshooting

A course for maintenance technicians teaching an analytical approach to troubleshooting. Describes the normal operating sequence, recognizes and lists the sequences or operations, prepares a functional block diagram and illustrates the sequence of expected operation. Students will complete a conditions chart or checklist, develop a cross-reference matrix of conditions versus possible causes, and eliminate possible causes and narrow probability. MIG Welding

For the student who needs to develop proficiency in welding sheet and plate steel, using the gas metal arc welding (GMAW or MIG) method. Students must furnish welding hood with lens, safety glasses, gloves, chipping hammer, wire brush, pliers, proper clothing and shoes. Maximum enrollment is 12 students. Reach 1 Adult Basic and Literacy Education Program

The Reach 1 program offers university employees and their family members the opportunity to attend basic skills classes to improve their reading, writing, and math and work toward a GED (diploma equivalent). Instruction is individualized and self-paced. Classes are offered twice a week for 10-week periods. Individuals may enroll at any time during the year. Management Advancement for the Public Service (MAPS) 2006 - 2007

The Management Advancement for the Public Service (MAPS) Program offers training seminars that build management and leadership skills for top executives, mid-level managers, front-line supervisors, and administrative support staff. Skill-building sessions are available for employees at all levels. The MAPS Program has been serving the training needs of public and non-profit organizations since 1970. The John Glenn School prides itself on the quality of seminars and the professionals who present them. Its presenters come from diverse backgrounds including faculty and professional consultants who share a fundamental commitment to enhance the quality of public service. The format of a MAPS seminar is participatory in nature. Rape Aggression Defense – Free

Self Defense for Women Rape Aggression Defense Systems is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women. The R.A.D. System is a comprehensive women-only course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction, and risk avoidance, while progressing on the basics of hands-on defense training. R.A.D. is not a Martial Arts program. Courses are taught by nationally certified R.A.D. instructors, who are also Police Officers. All students are provided a workbook/reference manual. This manual outlines the entire program for reference. Students who receive the manual at graduation also receive a lifetime return policy to any R.A.D. class, nationwide, for life. All R.A.D. classes are sponsored by The Ohio State University Police Department and are FREE. All R.A.D. instructors at Ohio State are certified Law Enforcement Officers. All R.A.D. instructors are certified by R.A.D. systems as instructors in R.A.D. systems self-defense program instruction. Students may wear loose fitting clothing, workout clothing, or street clothes. Classes are three hours in length. There are five sessions in a complete class, including a "simulations" class, which is the capstone class. While participation in the simulations class is not mandatory, it is highly encouraged. The training includes the use of padded suits that allow the students to experience, practice, and learn what it is like to strike the aggressor at full power.
