Winter Wonderland

Columbus was hit with 32 storms during winter 2010, leaving a record-breaking 26" of snow. Even with all that snow, Ohio State was closed only one day and not because of campus conditions but for consideration of those traveling from outside campus areas. Keeping the roads and walks clear is no small task. FOD, in partnership with Transportation & Parking, maintains 36 miles of roads, 100 miles of walks, and 100 loading docks. A total of 175 workers logged 4,329 total work hours, used 1,400 gallons of diesel, 1,000 tons of salt, and 50,995 gallons of brine.
