Ohio State Recognized for Promotion of Healthy Trees

For the eleventh year in a row, The Ohio State University is proud to earn a Tree Campus Higher Education recognition from the Arbor Day Foundation. Ohio State has received the distinction each year since it first applied in 2011. Tree Campus Higher Education, formerly known as Tree Campus USA, launched in 2008 and honors colleges and universities and their leaders for promoting healthy trees and engaging students and staff in the spirit of conservation.

The honor aligns with Ohio State's sustainability goals, including a commitment to increase the ecosystem services that campus lands provide to the university community.

To obtain the recognition, Ohio State met the five core standards for sustainable campus forestry required by Tree Campus Higher Education, including establishment of a tree advisory committee, evidence of a campus tree-care plan, dedicated annual expenditures for its campus tree program, an Arbor Day observance and the sponsorship of student service-learning projects.
