Mark Conselyea

Vice President

Mark’s experience in health care operations, strategic planning, facility planning, design and construction, finance, policy, and leadership dates back to 1991.

He is the Vice President of Facilities Operations and Development (FOD) at The Ohio State University, where he leads 750 employees, organized into three main units: Design and Construction, which oversees more than $3.4 billion in active construction, spread over 800 projects; Operations, which oversees services to 150+ buildings, 100+ miles of infrastructure (tunnels, bridges, roadways, etc.), and 1,400+ acres of maintained landscape; and Environmental Health and Safety, which oversees compliance with regulations from more than 30 local, state, and federal agencies.

From 2013-2018, Mark was Associate Vice President of the Wexner Medical Center, where he was responsible for facility planning, design, development, and renovation of all Wexner Medical Center, James Cancer Hospital, and Health Science Colleges owned and leased space (8+ million sq.ft.). Mark was a member of the Health System Executive Committee and the James Cancer Hospital Executive Committee. He served on the university’s Integrated Capital Planning Committee that develops the university’s $300-$400 million annual capital budget and the 10-year Capital Plan. He also served as the liaison that oversees services purchased from the university, including design and construction, facilities operations, transportation, parking, and valet.

Immediately prior to this position, Mark served for three years as the senior executive responsible for all facilities planning, operations, and development of clinical, research, education, and administrative space for the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. This included the design and development of a $1.1 billion, 1.1 million gross sq.ft. replacement cancer hospital and critical care tower.

Before that, Mark served for several years as the senior executive responsible for the James’ outpatient services where he managed 400 full-time staff, multiple clinical services, ancillary departments, and an annual budget of more than $500 million in annual gross revenues. Accomplishments include annual average visit growth of 8% per year; high patient, staff, nursing, and physician satisfaction; successful Joint Commission surveys; transition to a fully electronic health record (EPIC); and winning a national “CIO Top 100” award for its patient throughput system.

Mark graduated with honors from the University of Cincinnati in 1991 with a B.S. in Health Services Administration. He holds a Masters in Health Services Management and Policy from The Ohio State University, 1997. Mark currently serves on the board of the Central Ohio Heart Association and previously has served on the boards of Impact Safety-LifeCare Alliance, the Southern Ohio Adult Soccer Association, and the Columbus Premier Soccer League. He lives in Powell OH with his wife Christine and his children Adam and Erin.
