A WMC employee is being recognized for her hard work and leadership during the 2022 American Heart Association Central Ohio Heart Walk.
Amanda Lucas is being applauded for her role on the American Heart Association (AHA) Executive Leadership Team, which is comprised of leaders across central Ohio who are passionate about the AHA’s mission and work to engage their companies in the Heart Walk.
Mark Conselyea, Vice President of Facilities Operations Development, served with Amanda on the Executive Leadership Team. He said part of the reason the walk was such a success was because of Amanda’s involvement, “Amanda is a long-time and well-respected leader in the WMC. She was able to recruit faculty, staff and students.”
Leading the walk is something Amanda said she holds close to her heart, “Heart health has always been important, but this importance was deepened when my father had a stroke in 2021. His life (and my family’s) changed on a dime that day and though he has recovered, his ongoing speech and movement will forever impact his daily life. I lead the walk in hopes of preventing stroke and related heart conditions so others can live each day to the fullest.”
The Ohio State University raised nearly $50,000 with 55 teams and over 600 walkers participating in the walk. In total, the Central Ohio Heart Walk raised more than $1.5 million. All the money raised funds groundbreaking research, increases education, awareness programs and initiatives for local communities.
