Michelle Malone joined Ohio State 2022 and serves as a senior director of projects for Facilities Design and Construction supporting the Wexner Medical Center and the university’s seven health sciences colleges. In her role, Michelle provides overall leadership, management oversight and technical direction for all project activities related to the medical center and College of Medicine. She is a primary liaison to the medical center facilities team, senior leaders and associated deans.
Michelle has more than 25 years of professional experience managing ancillary departments and hospital construction projects ranging from major seismic upgrades and renovations to new patient towers with multi-phase construction, including ground up facilities. Michelle’s responsibilities include streamlining programs through implementation of Lean processes, including controlling expenditures, effectively planning budgets and using technology as an efficiency tool for staff.
Before coming to Ohio State, Michelle owned MJ Malone Group providing executive consulting services for hospitals and skilled nursing facilities and clinics. Prior to that, she served as vice president of facilities and construction for the Chinese Hospital in San Francisco, California. She also spent 12 years as executive director of plant operations and construction for Salinas Valley Memorial Health Care System. Michelle was the first female Vice Chair (2001-2005) and State Chair (2006-2010) for the Hospital Building Safety Board (HBSB) in California. She then was then appointed to the Building Standards Commission (CDGS) Healthcare Committee as the Primary Care/Specialty Clinic Representative from 2016-2020.
Michelle earned her Bachelor in political Science and Government, as well as a Master of Public Administration in Health Care Administration/Management, from California State University - East Bay.
