FOD Operations Update

FOD Operations teams have been hard at work this spring making campus beautiful. From mowing grass and planting flowers to building maintenance and spring cleaning, crews have worked day and night to keep campus running smoothly for students, faculty, staff and visitors.

During spring break, FOD Operations crews worked across campus, renewing flooring, painting walls and preparing the university’s 1,715 acres of green space and 15,189 trees for the warmer weather.

On April 17, our sustainability team hosted a campus-wide litter clean-up in honor of earth month. Learn more about the ways throughout the year that this team supports Ohio State’s commitment to a more sustainable future.

A large project that we completed in May was our annual planned systems outage for the Physics Research Building. This shutdown allows for repairs to be done all across the building in large volume while reducing risks and improving long-term maintenance quality.

During the building outage, crews were able to complete 42 different work orders and recorded 104.5 labor hours without any disturbance to building occupants.

We’re excited to share that Kevin Chilcote has been named the new Zone 2 leader. As the former manager for the Facilities Renovation and Restoration team, he brings valuable facilities experience and excitement to the role. Please just us in congratulating Kevin in this new chapter.

We’re also pleased to continue our Fort Hayes student intern program this summer. We look forward to welcoming this group to the Operations Support and Repair Team (OPSRT) shop,  where they’ll gain hands-on experience in the field.

Our summer work is now in full swing. We are renovating multiple spaces across campus from hallways and offices to classrooms and study spaces as well as updating building systems to keep daily operations running smoothly. Our landscaping teams are making sure campus is green and beautiful for when students return in the fall.

We look forward to supporting you as the year continues. If you have questions about our services, or need to report an issue, please contact Service2Facilities at 614-292-HELP (4357), or reach out to your zone leader.
