Mark Conselyea Retires After 30 Years of Service to The Ohio State University

After 30 years of service to The Ohio State University, Mark Conselyea has retired, closing a career marked by leadership, collaboration and a commitment to the university’s mission.

“Whatever accomplishments I may look back on with pride, they were made possible by great mentors, strong teams, trusted partnerships and people who were willing to work together toward something larger than themselves,” said Conselyea.

Conselyea served as vice president for Facilities Operations and Development (FOD) since 2019, leading approximately 750 employees across Design and Construction, Operations and Environmental Health and Safety. As vice president of FOD, Conselyea oversaw the university’s facilities, infrastructure, landscapes, construction projects and environmental health and safety efforts, helping guide the physical spaces that support Ohio State’s teaching, research and patient care missions.

In July 2024, he took on the role of interim senior vice president for the Office of Administration and Planning, providing oversight of FOD, the Department of Public Safety, Planning, Architecture and Real Estate (PARE), Transportation and Traffic Management (TTM), UniPrint and WOSU.

“I’ve been fortunate to work alongside talented, dedicated people who care deeply about Ohio State and its mission,” said Conselyea. “Their commitment, expertise, resilience, and friendship have made this career more meaningful than I can put into words.”

Throughout his Ohio State career, Conselyea held a variety of leadership roles spanning health care operations, strategic planning, facility planning, design and construction, finance and policy. From 2013 to 2018, he served as associate vice president of the Wexner Medical Center, overseeing facility planning, design, development and renovation across more than 8 million square feet of space. Earlier in his career, he helped lead the planning and development of the $1.1 billion replacement James Cancer Hospital and Critical Care Tower.

“I’ll miss all my colleagues but know I’m leaving behind a very capable team that will continue to serve the university well,” he said.

A 1991 graduate of the University of Cincinnati, Conselyea earned a master’s degree in health services management and policy from Ohio State in 1997. After three decades at the university, he said he leaves with gratitude for the opportunities and relationships that shaped his career.

“30 years goes by faster than you think,” Conselyea said. “I leave Ohio State with tremendous gratitude, many great memories, and enormous respect for the people who continue its important work. While I’m retiring from Ohio State, I’m looking forward to what comes next and to the opportunities, relationships and experiences still ahead. Thank you to everyone who has been part of the journey. Go Bucks!”
