Frequently Asked Questions
I have a new ID badge. Why doesn't it work when I swipe?
It takes 24 to 48 hours for new badges to sync with the system.
After 48 hours if you still don’t have access to a specific space, reach out to your department or area manager, the person who you requested the access from.
What do I do if a new cardholder is not found in Lenel (for Authorized Signers)?
Visitors, contractors, guests and temporary cardholders are not automatically batched into our system, and we need a card access request to add them.
If the badge is inactive in the database, please check with BuckID Services or Key Card (key-card@osu.edu).
How do I make a card access request?
Start with your department, professor or lab manager. They will assist you in requesting card access and obtaining the proper signature approval.
How long does it take for a card access request to be completed?
Card access requests are normally ready within three business days.
How do I prevent my BuckID from becoming demagnetized?
If you have a magnetic ring on your phone case, please do not store your BuckID near it or in a card holder that is attached to the back of your phone.
The magnetic strip on the back of the BuckID card can be demagnetized and cause card access on doors to stop working.
