Are you preparing for an Independence Day holiday gathering? Here are a few tips to help you and your guests have an eco-friendly 4th of July. 

  • Avoid making too much food.
    • Plan for the number of people that will be attending. Look in your cabinets for ingredients before shopping at your local farm or market.
  • Utilize leftovers.
    • Place leftovers in reusable containers and refrigerate within two hours of eating to enjoy your post-celebration meals.
  • Compost food scraps.
    • Reduce your carbon footprint and return nutrients to the soil by composting them! Join Ohio State’s composting program and recycle organic waste responsibly.
  • Recycle.
  • Use reusable dishes, cloth napkins and silverware.
