Ohio State Earns Gold in Sustainability - 2019

The Ohio State University Columbus campus achieved a gold rating within the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS). 

Ohio State’s 2019 gold rating is good for three years and places the university among leading national and international colleges and universities, according to the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) that administers STARS.

Ohio State tops Big Ten in annual Green Power Challenge

The Ohio State University was recognized as the 2017-18 Big Ten Champion of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Green Power Challenge for using more green power than any of its conference competitors. 

Green power is zero-emissions electricity generated from environmentally preferable renewable resources, such as wind, solar, geothermal, eligible biogas, biomass, and low-impact hydro. Using green power helps accelerate the development of new renewable energy capacity nationwide and helps users reduce their carbon footprints.

The Ohio State University Receives APPA Sustainability Award

The Ohio State University Facilities Operations and Development (FOD) has received the 2017 APPA Sustainability Award. FOD’s sustainability work includes recycling and zero waste initiatives, green building guidelines, energy conservation projects and more.

The APPA Sustainability Award honors educational institutions that have implemented programs and processes that enhance service delivery, lower costs, create a green and/or sustainable environment, or otherwise benefit the educational institution supporting student success and environmental stewardship.

Ohio State Boosts Big Ten Champion effort in EPA Green Power Challenge

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recognized The Ohio State University for helping the Big Ten win the Collective Conference Championship in this year’s Green Power Challenge. The Big Ten topped all 36 participating conferences nationwide, using more green power than any other collective group.
