Seasonal Preparedness

Cooling-to-Heating Transition - It's that time of year again, when the university transitions from cooling to heating. Facilities Operations and Development maintenance personnel are beginning to shut down certain cooling systems and perform the proper maintenance to bring heating systems online. This changeover can lead to customer inquiries about buildings being too hot or too cold.

We are working to ensure a seamless changeover. Ventilation systems will not be impacted as we progress through the transition, but weather changes may cause unanticipated fluctuations to interior temperature. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience as we perform these necessary tasks.

We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience as we perform these necessary tasks. If you have any questions or concerns during this transition, please contact your designated Zone Leader or Service2Facilities, 614-292-HELP.

Fire Hydrant Winterization - The City of Columbus mandates all privately-owned fire hydrants are to be pumped free of water. Accordingly, Facilities Operations and Development will be winterizing all university fire hydrants. A "winterized" fire hydrant has all the water in the barrel section evacuated to eliminate the possibility of the hydrant freezing, leaving it inoperable. Therefore, if you need to use a fire hydrant or see anyone else using a fire hydrant for ANY REASON, please notify us right away at Service2Facilities, 614-292-HELP.
