HVAC Project Enhances Safety

Facilities Operations and Development is making COVID safety a top priority before students, faculty and staff return to campus this fall. Crews have evaluated the operation of heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems to maintain proper indoor air requirements inside classroom spaces and to ensure these rooms meet or exceed CDC recommendations.

The $5 million project includes evaluation of 1,100 classrooms in more than 115 buildings on the Columbus and regional campuses. When adjustments were needed, remedies included, but were not limited to, installation of portable HEPA filter machines, MERV-13 filters, increasing airflow in spaces and other strategies. Please watch this short video to learn more about the HVAC ventilation validation project.
