Brett Garrett Bio

Brett Garrett is The Ohio State University’s senior director of engineering and campus infrastructure and university engineer. As a key member of Facilities Design and Construction (FDC), Brett has leadership responsibility for FDC’s Engineering, GIS/Mapping, signage, estimator, and Infrastructure Project Delivery teams. In his dual role as university engineer, Brett takes a wider focus on the strategic approach to engineering and infrastructure across the university to uphold Ohio State’s mission and vision.  

Brett joined Ohio State in 2002 serving in a variety of roles, including senior engineer, operations support services leader, technical service director, special assistant to the associate vice president of Facilities Operations and Development (FOD), director of energy and sustainability, and senior director of energy. This broad background allows Brett to maintain a close working relationship with FOD Operations, fostering additional collaboration between FDC and Operations. He has a special focus on the university’sdeferred maintenance strategy with the goal to increase the lifecycle of the university’s buildings and infrastructure and improve operational and program performance.

Before joining Ohio State, Brett worked for the Ohio Department of Transportation and R.D. Stolz and Associates Inc. He graduated from the University of Toledo with a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering, and holds a State of Ohio professional engineer license.
