Oval Water Main Break

1/5/18 at 2:22 p.m. UPDATE: The water boil advisory announced Thursday (1/4) for a portion of Columbus campus has been lifted. Domestic water use can now resume, as normal. Out of an abundance of caution, Facilities Operations and Development initiated water sample testing to enhance safety in impacted buildings. Testing returned normal results. Thank you for your patience.
 

1/4/18 at 4:15 p.m. UPDATE:  Out of an abundance of caution, the water boil advisory remains in effect for the following campus area (see map):

  • North: 19th Avenue
  • West: Millikin Road (at Annie and John Glenn Ave.)
  • East: North High Street
  • South: Hagerty Drive

Please note: The Ohio Union and Thompson Library are NOT in the water boil advisory.

Customers within these boundaries are advised to boil all water used for cooking and drinking for one minute until further notice. In lieu of boiling, bottled water may be used for drinking water until the boil alert is lifted for this area. Water sample testing is underway as a precaution. Please continue to check this page for updates.

 

1/4/18 at 10:13 a.m. UPDATE:  A waterline break occurred Wednesday (1/3) on the east side of the Oval of The Ohio State University’s campus. Facilities Operations and Development responded quickly to assess the situation, and repairs are now complete. Intermittent water outages were required, but water service is now in the process of being restored.

Out of an abundance of caution, a water boil advisory has been issued for the following area (see map):

  • North: 19th Avenue
  • West: Millikin Road (at Annie and John Glenn Ave.)
  • East: North High Street
  • South: Hagerty Drive

As domestic cold water service is restored to each building, restrooms can return to service. Additional information will be shared as it becomes available.

 

1/4/18 at 9:20 a.m. UPDATE:  Dreese Lab has been added to the list of impacted buildings.

 

1/4/18 at 9:04 a.m. UPDATE:  Hayes Hall has been added to the list of impacted buildings.

 

1/4/18 at 8:35 a.m. UPDATE:  A water main break under the east side of the Oval was reported on Wednesday (1/3) afternoon. Facilities Operations and Development responded immediately to assess the situation and is actively working to make repairs. Intermittent water outages may be required for buildings around the Oval. A list of currently impacted buildings is below.  Impacted buildings will not have cold water in restrooms.  Sinks and toilets will not be operational.
