The university continues to invest in improvements to support transportation and parking changes related to the upcoming relocation of Cannon Drive. Prior to Cannon Drive construction in September, the Polo surface parking lot is expected to close Sept. 4. The new Herrick Drive Transit Hub will open Tuesday, Sept. 5. All project dates are weather permitting.
Commuters maintain a menu of options including west campus parking with access to the newly re-routed Med Center Express bus route. From Aug. 1 through Sept. 4, the Med Center Express will service the west campus Carmack Lots continuing to make stops throughout the medical center district. It will offer similar service times to current offerings but will no longer stop at the Buckeye Lots or Vet Med.
Beginning Sept. 5, enhanced Med Center Express service will offer peak pick-up frequencies of three minutes with direct service from the Carmack Lots to the centrally-located Herrick Drive Transit Hub. At this time, the Med Center Express will offer a 10-minute commute with the following pick-up frequencies (including weekends and holidays):
- 5 a.m. – 6 a.m. 10-min. service
- 6 a.m. – 8 a.m. 3-min. service
- 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. 10-min. service
- 2 p.m. – 8 p.m. 3-min. service
- 8 p.m. – 10 p.m. 10-min. service
- 10 p.m. – midnight 3-min. service
- Midnight – 12:30 a.m. 10-min. service
- 12:30 a.m. – 5 a.m. On-demand service
To request on-demand service, please call 614-293-8669 or use the call buttons located at the main entrances of Medical Center buildings and by the elevators of all patient and visitor garages. Paratransit services will remain available.
As previously communicated, starting Aug. 1 – to align with the new parking permit year, most commuter students will be relocated from the west campus Carmack Lots to the Buckeye Lots located along Fred Taylor Drive. The Campus Loop bus routes will service the Buckeye Lots rather than west campus. Service times for these and all other CABS routes will be communicated in the coming weeks at ttm.osu.edu.
Construction of the new Herrick Drive Transit Hub and improvement to the west campus Carmack lots are underway. Work will continue through the summer to expand parking lots, add entry points and traffic signals on west campus (see map for full project details). As always, safety is our number one priority and we ask everyone to be aware of their surroundings and proceed with caution near construction zones.
