Beginning Monday, August 7, the southern portions of the Carmack 2 and Carmack 3 parking lots on west campus will reopen and the northern portions of these lots will close for sealing and restriping (see map). Work is expected to last approximately two weeks, weather permitting. In addition, fencing remains in place while the center walkway is finalized.
Commuters entering Carmack Road from Kenny Road can access the southern portions of Carmack 2 and Carmack 3 by taking their first left onto Carmack Loop (one-way southbound). Access to the Carmack 2 and Carmack 3 bus shelters will be available, and the Med Center Express will continue to service these stops.
Additional parking is available in the Carmack 5 parking lot. When entering from Kenny Road, via Carmack Road, Carmack 5 is straight ahead after the stop sign. Please note that the Carmack 5 bus stop is being serviced only by the West Campus route at this time.
Carmack Road near Lane Avenue remains closed in both directions. Lane closures along Lane Avenue and Kenny Road are also in place to facilitate traffic enhancements on west campus roadways.
In conjunction with Framework 2.0, the university continues to invest in improvements to support transportation and parking changes related to the upcoming relocation of Cannon Drive. West campus construction will continue through the summer to expand and improve parking lots, add entry points and traffic signals in the area. As always, safety is our number one priority, and we ask everyone to be aware of their surroundings and proceed with caution near construction zones.
