Finding a Place for Waste at Ohio Stadium

In alignment with the university’s sustainability goals, FOD continues to support Zero Waste efforts at Ohio Stadium. Working with “I Am Change Outreach,” a non-profit mentorship program of area high school and college students and volunteers assist fans at the Zero Waste stations on Ohio State football game days. The students help Buckeye fans recycle and compost correctly and, in return, The Ohio State University Department of Athletics contributes to student scholarships supporting access and affordability.

Ohio State's Strategic Plan

The Zero Waste program falls within two pillars of The Ohio State University's Strategic Plan.

I. Teaching and Learning: This program helps expose high school and college students to a real world service opportunity. It also helps spread knowledge to the general public about best practices for sustainability.

V. Operational Excellence and Resource Stewardship: The Zero Waste program is an integral part of the university's goal to achieve zero waste by 2025.
