Job-related eye injuries are far too common. You only have two eyes, so make sure you keep them safe. In this edition of the Environmental Health & Safety brief, learn the common causes of eye injuries and what eye protection is right for you.
Beginning as early as Friday (3/31) at approximately 6 p.m. and continuing through Sunday (4/9) evening, Woodruff Avenue between Tuttle Park Place and Scott House will be closed to thru-traffic for utility work. General traffic will be detoured to Lane Avenue.
CABS routes Campus Loop South, North Express and Buckeye Village will be rerouted via westbound 19th Avenue, southbound Neil Avenue, westbound Annie and John Glenn Avenue and northbound Tuttle Park Place. The Campus Loop North will be rerouted southbound Tuttle Park Place and eastbound Annie and John Glenn Avenue.
On Saturday, April 1, from approximately 8 a.m. to late afternoon, 12th Avenue between Neil Avenue and Cannon Drive will be reduced to one lane for a crane lift to Postle Hall. Traffic will be maintained in both directions, with the assistance of traffic control personnel. Pedestrians will be directed to the north side of 12th Avenue.
On Tuesday, March 28, starting at 7:30 a.m. and continuing through Wednesday, March 29, late afternoon, Millikin Road north of Annie and John Glenn Avenue will be closed for a crane lift to McCracken Power Plant. Pedestrians will be directed to the west side of McCracken Power Plant or the east side of Baker Systems Engineering. Pedestrian access to the Central Service Building and McCracken Power Plant will be maintained via the northern approach. Alternate ADA parking is available at the Physical Activity and Education Services Building or Tuttle Park Place Garage.
On Friday (3/24), from 9 a.m. and continuing for at least a few hours, eastbound Woodruff, just east of Tuttle Park Place, will be closed for utility work. Traffic personnel will be onsite. Plan alternate route.
CampusParc has advised that, beginning Monday (3/13) and continuing through Tuesday (3/14), Lane Avenue Garage will undergo elevator maintenance, affecting the elevators at the southwest corner of the building. Signage will be in place, directing parkers to use the elevator in the northwest corner of the building.
A group working to guide how the new Mirror Lake should look and function is closer to finishing their work.
An advisory council made up of faculty, students and staff held two meetings in the last two months to offer input on a new look for the iconic landmark.
“What I’m excited about is this is a model for how a more natural landscape, a sustainable landscape, could be developed on campus,” said advisory council member Daniel Struve, professor emeritus of horticulture.
From March 13 through March 22, Neil Avenue between the South Oval pathway and Neil Drive will be closed to thru-traffic to accommodate utility work. Sidewalk closures will occur adjacent to the roadway, but pedestrian access will be maintained (signage will be posted), shifted as shown on the attached map, subject to change.
